CONDITION GUIDE
This guide explains how a condition is assessed and described for items listed with Rose Archive. It is intended to help consignors select the most accurate condition category when submitting an item and to help buyers understand how condition grades are applied.
All items sold through Rose Archive are pre-owned and may show signs of wear consistent with age and use. Condition assessments take into account visible wear, ageing, and overall functionality at the time of inspection.
For consignors, condition should be selected honestly and conservatively at the point of submission. All condition selections are reviewed following physical inspection, and Rose Archive reserves the right to amend the condition category, description, and pricing where necessary to ensure accurate and transparent representation for buyers.
Consignors are required to clearly disclose all known faults, signs of wear, alterations, or damage in the description section of their submission, even if minor. Consignors should also specify what the item comes with, including any original packaging, dust bags, receipts, authentication cards, accessories, or replacement parts. Failure to disclose faults or missing components may result in reclassification, repricing, or rejection of the item.
For buyers, any visible wear or imperfections will be reflected in the item’s condition grade, description, and pricing. We encourage buyers to review all images and descriptions carefully prior to purchase.
Excellent (A)
Items show minimal to no signs of wear. They retain their original structure and finish, with no visible marks, damage, or deterioration. Original packaging or accessories may be included but are not required unless stated.
Very Good (B)
Items show light signs of wear consistent with careful use. Minor wear may be present in areas such as corners, straps, fastenings, or interior surfaces, but the item remains well-presented overall.
Good (C)
Items show clear but acceptable signs of wear consistent with regular use and age. This may include surface wear, light marking, softening of materials, or minor changes in colour or texture. These characteristics are reflected in the item’s pricing.
Fair (D)
Items show obvious and consistent signs of wear from frequent use. While the item remains functional and structurally sound, visible wear is noticeable and is reflected accordingly in pricing and description.
